English Beaches: Unique Cornish Beaches

cornwall beaches
You may not be aware but Cornwall is home to some 300 miles of coastline – where there is accommodation for all types of holidaymakers, giving them fantastic views of the majestic sea, golden sands, and rugged coastline. Here are a few of my favorite Cornwall beaches that are accessible from various locations across the Duchies 300-mile coastline. Each of these beach resorts has a range of Cornwall hotels and guesthouses within close proximity.

This is a guide to beaches in Cornwall for the layman. There are a handful of beaches in Cornwall which are stunning but not easily accessible by foot. All the beaches listed here are accessed by maintained coastal paths.
Please respect the council rules regarding dogs on beaches. On many of the Cornwall beaches, people are allowed to take their dogs (or a section of the beach at least) at certain times of the year.

North Coast Cornwall Beaches

·         Harbour Cove is a little north of the town of Padstow providing golden sands and seclusion for a little privacy on a warm day. Some days at low tide it is possible to go from this cove over to Hawkers Cove.
·         Bedruthan Steps provides intense scenery and is within a stone’s throw of popular tourist town Newquay. Bedruthan is home to a giant’s legend surrounding its epic slate stack formations.
·         Morgan Porth is a massive flat, golden sands beach a gem amongst two massive headlands. The low tide reveals much of the beach and caves ripe for exploration, the sea is often ruff but provides good conditions for bodyboarding and surfing.
·         Tolcarne Beach is a private beach, it always reminds me of photos of my Grandfather on holiday with the different colored beach ‘huts’ ascending the cliffs in mass. Perfect weather and conditions for a bodyboard and the sand here (like most of Newquay) are fine, soft and golden.
·         Portminster Beach provides a fantastically soft golden sand beach and turquoise waters to bathe, just off Carbis Bay, and between St Ives and Hayle it is within a short distance of lots of holiday accommodation. There is also Padstow, Newquay and St Ives.

South West Coast Cornwall Beaches

·         Meanporth Beach is off the beaten track from Falmouth and is one of the few beaches in Cornwall to provide parking on the beach thus a very accessible beach.
·         Gyllyngvase Beach is near to the end of the town and is one of the cleanest and most scenic beaches in Cornwall; just recently a paddleboarding business has opened on the beach that rents such equipment to beachgoers.
·         St Mawes beaches over the water from Falmouth has several little beaches which make a nice ferry trip on a sunny day. There is also Falmouth and St Mawes.
There are plenty of little beaches in Cornwall that are well worth visiting;  and many unique places in the UK. Do you know a hidden gem of a beach in Cornwall?
