Mountain restaurant ovelooking Innsbruck

Innsbruck in itself is a charming alpine village, now city, with cobbled streets and medieval architecture, but you can admire it’s true beauty when you see it as part of it’s natural surroundings. Nestled next to the river Inn and hugged tightly by snow capped mountains, the best view is from the Seegrube restaurant 1905 meters up the Nordkette mountain. The Hungerburgbahn funicular takes you from the city centre up the mountain in 20 minutes. There you have an uninterrupted panoramic view of both Innsbruck and the surrounding Tirol landscape. The cable car itself is an experience, taking you through tunnels, over the river and up steep inclines. First stop is the Alpenzoo, the highest zoo in the world. Then on to section II where the Seegrube restaurant is, and further up to the Hafelekar level at 2256 meters high.In summer sit outside on the restaurant terrace, and in winter there is a fireplace inside. The restaurant has a ground level, with self service lighter meals, and the first floor, a little fancier, with seating, wine lists, etc. There is a bar, and has wheel chair access. Enjoy the view and clean air over a hot chocolate or wine – bliss!
