Or should I say Aeriel Tramway? Actually it is one of two commuter cable car in North America. You travel at a maximum of 76 meters above ground level, so at times the buildings seem as if they could almost touch the cable car. And of course, the views and photo ops are quite unique.

The trip from Roosevelt Island to Manhattan is nearly a kilometer long. The New York City cable car travels at a speed of 26km/h and takes almost 5 minutes. You can see Queensboro Bridge, and fly over the West Channel of the East River, FDR, York Avenue, and first Avenue.

New York City Tramway

When the New York City cable car was originally erected in 1976 it was intended to be temporary. But even after the subway was built it kept going. Many commuters use it so try to avoid rush hour. There are only about 10 seats and the rest is standing room, which can accommodate 125 passengers. The car makes 115 trips a day, leaving every 15 minutes. The New York cable car is wheelchair accessible.
