The Golden Circle is about the most unoriginal and unique travel experience you could have when visiting Reykjavik, Iceland, but it is a must see. However you can make your day tour around the Golden Circle a lot more interesting by including a dive or snorkel in 2-4 degree water. The Thingvellir National Park is part of the Golden Circle and in it runs the Silfra Rift which is a crack between the American and Eurasian plates. The rift widens by 2cm each year.
You can have the unique experience of diving or snorkeling in this crystal clear and still water. The water, and area, are spotlessly clean, natural and pristine. There is visibility in the water for 100 meters.
You don’t have to have any experience and the guides explain and help you along the way. There are longer dives and tours which concentrate just on the diving aspect, but I recommend you get a taste of this unique experience by doing the tour which includes a tour of the Golden Circle as well as a short dive or snorkel.
The experience is unique in more ways than one: you get to wear a dry suit, over your clothes; enter this incredible water in this once in a life time location.
Tours leave from Reykjavik, Iceland. Pick up from most hotels.
All year round. The Golden Circle and dive/snorkel tour takes a day.
