Although it’s very romantic to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and you’ll probably have it on the top of your what-to-do-in-Paris list, it’s not the best place to get great panoramic views of the city. that honor goes to the highest building in the city center – Tour (tower) Montparnasse.
Montparnasse is a regular office block except it is 56 floors high, has 7,200 windows, covers a total of 13.28km² in floor space, and has an observation deck and open roof terrace at the top.
Visitors wizz up to the 56th floor in an elevator which takes under 40 seconds to reach the top. There are 6 freight elevators and an additional 25 elevators for guests. The Panorama Floor is an indoor observation deck with the usual gift store, cafe, and information about the surrounding views.
From here you can get a 360° view of Paris including the Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur, and the Pompidou Center. here you can get a photo of the Eiffel Tower together with the city beneath it. Yes, that’s right, you can see parts of Paris that you can’t see from the Eiffel Tower. The observation deck is 210 meters off the ground but you can go up even further by stairs to the roof terrace.
Back In Time – Time Travel in Paris
The latest attraction at the Montparnasse Observation Deck is a time-travel VR experience where you can see the City of Lights as it was in times gone by. This experience is FREE with your entrance ticket.
Montparnasse Outdoor Terrace
Unfortunately, the Montparnasse outdoor terrace is now closed, but the good news is that they have lowered their prices with this in mind. And you still get to see all of Paris spread out below you.

At least with this place you get the Eiffel Tower in your photos
Absolutely beautiful views of Paris! From the top, you can see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and many more. Though if you have the Paris Pass, make sure you use it! There are no signs advertising that you can use The Pass there, but it saves a few euros!
We learned there is a fabulous view in Paris without having to wait hours in line at the Tower. The Arc has access to the top, where the views of the city are amazing!
