If you want a truly unique British experience in one of the traditional English tea rooms, loaded with nostalgic knick-knacks then this is the place for you. You know how the Brits love their tea, well it’s really quite an institution. This particular tea room has taken the concept to the extreme.

The Tea Cosy Brighton – Camp, Quirky and Kitsch

This is one of the typical English tea rooms where you can come and enjoy a cuppa, but here the attraction is the decor. On the walls, shelves and, well everywhere is everything but the kitchen sink that has anything to do with Britain. You’ll see lots of items relating to the royal family like commemorative plates and mugs. There are also teacups, lamps, fairy lights, plates on the walls, flags, posters, and doilies.

The Royal Menu at this English Tea Room

The menu items at this English tea room are named after British royals. Try Prince Harry’s boiled egg and toast soldiers; the Princess Margeret slice of cake or Prince Philip’s cheese on toast. They have a huge selection of teas and a rather extensive menu. On the menu is the traditional afternoon tea or high tea which includes scones with cream and jam (yum). There are also sandwiches, cupcakes, and cakes, apart from the tea of course. Although the service is said to be aloof don’t forget the owners are British after all.
And in case you don’t know what a tea cozy is it’s that little knitted “hat” for the teapot to keep the tea nice and warm and cozy (aah). The British love their tea so much they even knit clothes for it!
Find the Tea Cosy (UK spelling) at 3 George Street, Kemptown in Brighton Hove.
Confused about English tea rooms?
Well, I’m not surprised. In a brief Google search, I found several tea rooms with the same name. In Brighton, there is the “Cosy Tea Rooms of Elham Street.” Which was known for its host who insisted diners kept to the rules of Victorian tea room etiquette. I also found an Air B&B in Brighton with the name Tea Cosy. In addition, there are the many, equally interesting tea rooms in Brighton’s The Lanes.
Not in Brighton And Still Want the Tea Cosy Experience?
You can visit The Tea Cosy in Hurstbourne, Tarrant which has a similar theme. And if you want more unique attractions in Britain try here.
